About Jason Tesauro
“The ‘theatre of his personality’ is worth the price of admission!” MAXIM magazine
Jason Tesauro dedicates himself to wine, words and the pursuit of refined cool. By day, he’s served since 2002 as Chief Sommelier and National Brand Director at Barboursville Vineyards, spreading the word of Virginia vino and local bounty.
By night, Tesauro coauthored with Phineas Mollod The MODERN GENTLEMAN: A Guide to Essential Manners, Savvy & Vice (2002), The MODERN LOVER: A Playbook for Suitors, Spouses & Ringless Carousers (2004) and The MODERN GENTLEMAN Second Edition (2011).
As contributor to The New York Times and Sommelier Journal, he’s also a national award–winning wine & spirits journalist and his lifestyle columns have appeared in Men’s Health, Maxim and The Sunday Paper (Atlanta).
Jason Tesauro is the new American Renaissance Man, a nationally-sought expert on wine & spirits, culture, etiquette and luxury. In 2009, Fine Living Network tapped him as a guest expert for a lifestyle series produced by Distillery Pictures. Recently, he is a repeat guest expert on the TBS show Trends With Benefits. Jason has devoted the last decade and more to not only comprehending the whole of manners, savvy and vice, but presenting it in a way that enriches, edifies and brings spice to life. He created the Smithsonian Institute’s Savvy Epicure Course and he founded The Modern Gentleman Seminar Series in partnership with The Ritz-Carlton.
As lauded in Details, Playboy and The New Yorker, Jason Tesauro is an entertainer, lecturer, sommelier and raconteur. He understands that being a modern gentleman requires style and savvy, but also adaptability and honesty – without losing your edge. Jason’s endless desire to both learn and teach makes him just as eager to get knee-deep in muddy oyster beds as to swirl-and-sniff vintage Porto. The whole world, from soil to soirée, is his habitat and classroom.
